Endless Skeptical Weekend
It's a busy week for the Atlanta skeptics. Phil Plait was here the other day. Well, not here, but over at...a university too damned close to Alabama for my liking. He was talking about Death from the Skies. Turns out the universe hates you personally and will do anything to get at you.
Tonight, Ben Radford and Jim Underdown are going to be meeting with us to kickoff of the IIG Atlanta branch. We are working on getting this up and running, and this is the weekend we do it all. Hot damn. I have been looking to do this sort of thing for a while now, and now we can. Woo to the hoo. The festivities will take two days, culminating in a 3-hour workshop with Ben Radford tomorrow night. You know I'm there. Pictures to follow.

Q: How many Mabuses does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: WE WILL DESTROY YOU!
=)
@sgerbic We had a great time last night. I met both Ross and Jim. You all have done some pretty cool stuff. We are going to need to grow our base of expertise--maybe kidnap a magician and a statistician.

We do need to recruit a magician and a statistician, and I'm thinking a psychologist wouldn't hurt. I had a basic statistics course in undergraduate and a more advanced one (i.e., multiple regression) in graduate school, but I'll be damned if I can recall enough to be of any use for that. Two courses aren't even close to making one into a competent statistician.
What a weekend. I enjoyed the great conversations and am also itching to do some paranormal investigation. It was a pleasure to have met you, by the way.
The pleasure was mine, Chris. I look forward to working with you as this group gets off of the ground. Also, it seems like we will have the collective experience of other IIG chapters (and previous experiments/tests/methodologies) to draw on as well.

I like to sometimes string sentences together that are not entirely related to one another to keep people on their toes and I like hats.
