The reason I'm leaving a comment, aside from whatever rant the above is, is that I saw you ran a test post of an animated gif. My experience is that if they're hosted elsewhere and linked they work fine, but that Picassa- the host for uploaded blogspot images, doesn't support animated gifs. So, for example, I stumbled into photobucket, a free image hosting site that I don't particularly recommend (Flickr looks like it would be better). I upload gifs there, then link to the image when I compose the blog post. Blogger seems to do just fine with the animations, but Picassa doesn't.
I gave up, but I'll keep that in mind for next time. Thanks!
