This week in conspiracy...
Again, we can't escape the conspiracy theories.
- Arizona Republican sues judges, loses in court. Who didn't see that coming?
- A Dayton Daily News article begins: "If the United States government collapses, Michael Craft and his Unorganized Militia of Champaign County are ready." Way to go, Craft! One sentence in and we already know that you are an unhinged loon!
- The bombings in Russia may bode poorly for Muslims there.
- When did the Guardian become the Daily Mail? What a waste of electrons.
- A nice retort to the NYT Review of Books that illustrates how the media needs to confront conspiracy theories like adults.
- Why is it that every time I read something about the Catholic Church I end up wanting to vomit?
- NewsBusters does not seem to take into account the numerous convergent reports that indicate that there is a growth of lunatic right-wing militias in this country. Tim Graham actually calls it a leftist conspiracy theory. Sorry, but that just about broke my irony-meter. The fact that this ballwasher sees a conspiracy here, oddly, does not convince him that the modern right is prone to seeing conspiracy (to be fair, I have heard NPR cover leftist conspiracism as well, including people who think that Bush planned 9/11). Dude, the fucking John "I'm scared that the commie-Jew-fags are trying to get my vital fluids" Birch Society underwrote C-PAC and nobody walked out! Honestly, the Republicans can't afford to lose the paranoid white male vote right now; they don't have what it takes to denounce them strongly and emerge a better party because of it. Most of the people who want to leave their party right now, it seems, are conservative.
- WorldNetDaily--hey! They're playing that only song they know!
- You know, I think that the Examiner is a little harsh on Congressman Blunt.
- Obama is apparently bringing back the draft. Heheh. That's a new one!
- Hey, cool! A book confronting the Fakespeare conspiracy theory.
- The Seattle Times breaks the Area 51 conspiracy wide-open. Aliens fail to spill out.
- Wow. Georgia is fucked up.
- Wouldn't it be great if Bachmann's call for righties to not participate in the Census would hurt her chances of getting reelected. I whack to that thought.
- I have no idea.
- Reuters blog: "America's Season of Rage and Fear."
- New York Times and conspiracies.
- Hey! Good ol' Chip Berlet has a new article out!
- The Detroit News talks about conspiracy and the flaccid health care bill.
- Terrorists are terrorists, Christian or Muslim (from Salon)
- This guy's name is Stankiewicz. Heehee. Yeah, his parents were part of an unfortunate conspiracy.

re. "I have no idea."
I highly recommend "Star Wreck" to any who have seen both Star Trek & Babylon 5. I would ask that you actually watch the whole thing, because some of the stupid humor early on is atrocious & off-putting.
But it is well worth it, even in Finnish with subtitles.
Hardcore fans of either might get offended at their "heroes" being made fun of, but frak those whiney losers anyway.
