Looking at the picture it just looks like another dumb american not really knowing proper prodigal. The custom is misunderstood by most americans and they bow at the waist deeply as you see obama doing. But he should be more like the other guy with his eyes on the other guy and bowing slightly. both the same they say we are equal. The deeper bow says I recognize your greatness, a lesser bow says I am your superior. Obama is just being lame and showing his ignorance...and his so called experts should have told him the proper method.
So, you only have "I'm your greater and lesser." What's "I'm your equal?" Well, he's trying, is the important thing. I've heard that it is very difficult for someone not raised in Japan to adjust bows for the circumstances. And this isn't even the complaint that most people are making, it seems to me. It's that he "bows at all," which is a daft criticism and not historically supported.
In the final analysis: HE'S JUST BEING FUCKING NICE. GET THE FUCK OVER IT. AHHHHHHHHHH!

Hey, I just found your blog n_n I've been living in Japan for 2 months, and I agree about the bowing thing, it's difficult but the important thing is that He tried to be nice and I think Japanese people just got it right, I watched the news that day and nothing about the bow was mentioned =)
