Crowdsourcing my responsibilities...
Hi. I just arrived back in Atlanta. I drove for, what, 40 hours straight? Not peeing. I'm about to pee. Unfortunately, I'm likely to be draining my bladder until class tomorrow, and I have a favor to ask of you.
I will be getting into campus early tomorrow, as I always do, no later than 6:15. In the morning, I do my lesson plan for the day, and doubtless I will prepare as I always do, but I thought I would sound my readership out for ideas. I am doing audience and advertisements. When I do this section, I usually use ads that are temporally or culturally isolated from my students' experiences. Take for instance this ad from the '40s.

No shit? Really?
Anyway, examining ads this way makes the assumptions that advertisers are making about their audiences a little clearer to the students. I will be gathering a number of them in the morning, but I thought that I would tap into the heads of the imaginary people of the internet to see if you had any favorites. Do you have an ad that you think would be good for generating classroom discussion? Post a link in the comments, and I will give you extra credit. (Making that empty promise seems to work on my students, so I thought I'd try it here. Heehee.)

The first commercial introduces people to ATMs in 1983.
The second in the playlist is getting a mini statement from the ATM
Good !
Am I too late?
