A letter I sent to my new colleagues...

Subject: I have an extra ticket...

...for the upcoming U2 concert at the Georgia Dome on the
6th of October. Sure, you have to ascend slowly to the seats or you'll get the bends, but, hey, free ticket. If someone would like to come, let me know. I should warn you in advance that there is a very high likelihood of serious air guitar in the seat next to you and a case of "white man's overbite" that you could see from space, and not only because that happens to be where the seats are! I'm just saying, you've been warned.
I am so jazzed! People have favorite bands, right? I don't know what that is like. I have had a favorite band since high school. It sounds maybe a little messed up, and I wonder if it is somehow part of my OCD thing or just a personality quirk, but that band has been the soundtrack to my life since I was a junior in high school.

Yeah, apparently they will be appearing under a portable electric Eiffel Tower. Can't freaking wait.

HJ (tuning his air guitar down half a step, which is how they tend to play their live shows)

Hey Bing,

Did you see It Might Get Loud? You'd like it as both a guitar fan and a U2 fan. You get to hear a lot about Edge's creative process. I enjoyed it a lot.

Enjoy the show!

Hey! Another U2 fan! I love 'em too. I like their old stuff better than their new stuff, but, yeah, they are the best. My very first album/CD that I bought (ever) was Joshua Tree back in the 80s. I then got all their other stuff as soon as possible. I wrote their lyrics on everything, EVERYTHING I owned.

Enjoy the show - I'm jealous. :)

Yep. Be jealous. :) I just heard from my ex office wife who said that she saw them in Raleigh, and that the show was completely awesome in every way. I'll buy that. I'm totally ready to go! Woohoo!
