Boobie fanciers to gather in Chcago

Blue-footed boobie fanciers, that is. Turns out that there is a Darwin Conference coming up this Halloween. I will not be able to go, but there are a lot of people there I would like to rub shoulders with.

Participants include (and mind you, these are just the ones I am familiar with):

  • Ronald Numbers (U. of Wisconsin): "Anti-Evolutionism in America: Scientific Creationism to Intelligent Design"
  • Eugenie Scott (National Center for Science Education): "What Would Darwin Say to Today’s Creationists?"
  • Daniel Dennett (Tufts University): "Darwin's 'Strange Inversion of Reasoning': Confronting the Counterintuitive"
  • Michael Ruse (Florida State University): "Is Darwinism Past Its 'Sell-by' Date? The Challenge of Evo-Devo"
  • Neil Shubin (University of Chicago): "Great Transformations in Life: Insights from Genes & Fossils"
  • Jerry Coyne (University of Chicago): "Speciation: Problems and Prospects"
Did you see that Eugenie Scott is going to be there?! I love Eugenie. That's all there is. She speaks, and I just drift off, but in a good way. Oh! She could charm a pit bull. (Call me, Eugenie!)
