"Are you crazy? I want to hear about it!"
Apparently I'm wearing a sign or something.
The ghost tour was fun, if it weren't for all the fucking homeless people. I couldn't throw a rock without hitting one, but mostly because I have really good aim! Haha!
Anyway, we did mostly the same stuff as last night, touring a section of town. I think that I am going to talk to my students about this one first before I write it up here. I need some more perspective, and I look forward to seeing what they have to say. I think that we have put a face on bizarre.
HJ (really not grooving on the homeless people right now)

My 16 yo daughter just got back from a trip to SF with her dad. She was born there, but moved with me back to Australia when she was 3. Her comment 'There are lots of scary people there, homeless people'. Now, she is being raised to identify social problems, racism, homophobia, etc. and to not pass judgments. We took the opportunity to talk about social injustice and the nice weather in California, but she was SCARED!
You know, I'm of the same line of thought. It was really intrusive. I'm not scared of them collectively, you know, and I'm certain that their lives are the aftermath of a perfect storm of personal and social problems. But these motherfuckers were disrupting my fucking class. That's what made this different from my previous encounters.
I would like to give a shout out to the Atlanta Ambassadors who jumped in and extracted a street person from my ass. He seriously followed and talked to me and Animala for 5 blocks. I could not shake him. (I think that he said or hinted that he had robbed a bank at some point--it was hard to tell.) I'm naming my first child after the Ambassadors: "Pith Helmet McGhandi" (actually it's a lot funnier if you know my last name and then pronounce "Pith Helmet ______________" with a lisp. But you'll never know that special bliss. :)
