Bill Donohue: "Come see the violence inherent in the system!"
Bill Donohue is a shitbag. I would gladly oppress him. Not other Catholics, mind you, just him. I want to see a grown man slobber like a rabid jackal, minus the jackal's level-headed sobriety. Seriously, there is something completely wrong with the guy, some sort of diseased mind. He thrives on attention and imaginary slights. Seriously. Homeboy gots issues.
I once read a David Sedaris essay about his boisterous brother, "The Rooster," a colorful man who could make a Marine blush. Apparently, so can his dog. Dog A is like many dogs; he has a less-than-discriminating palate. Well, actually, he really likes poo. I know. Anyway, whenever Dog B "strikes a pose" as you will, the Rooster says that Dog A will basically get his poop steaming from the spiggot. Quoth the Rooster: "Sometimes he'll stick his nose to her ass and just eat that shit on tap." I know. I get the Catholic League's press releases in much the same way that the dog gets his daily dose of doody straight from the source.
How was that for a disgusting extended simile?
The weirdest thing is Shitbag Donohue's approach to PZ Meyer's "slander" against Catholicism. He wants to make it clear that PZ favors Muslims, as if that had ANYTHING to do with the issue at hand. As if that were true, even. Oh well. He is a fucking lunatic, after all.
Let's put PZ's comments in context, you lying sack of monkey shit.July 12, 2008
MYERS STILL WANTS TO ABUSE EUCHARIST;
SHOWS DEFERENCE TO ISLAM
Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented on the latest developments to surface regarding the pledge made by Paul Z. Myers, a professor at the University of Minnesota, to desecrate the Eucharist:
“Myers was quoted yesterday saying, ‘I have to do something. I’m not going to just let this disappear.’ [Last Friday it was reported that he had acquired a Host.] He continued, ‘Something will be done. It won’t be gross. It won’t be totally tasteless, but yeah, I’ll do something that shows this cracker has no power.’
“The biology professor made it clear that he would never disrespect Islam the way he does Catholicism. When asked about those who abuse the Koran, for example, he said such an act was analogous to desecrating a graveyard. ‘That’s completely different,’ he said. ‘I don’t favor [that idea].’ But when it comes to the Body of Christ, he opines, ‘The cracker is completely different.’
MnIndy: What about the stories of US military personnel urinating on and otherwise abusing copies of the Koran in Iraq? Were you outraged by that, or is that a different version of this for you?Jesus hates you, Bill, and the Pope thinks that you are an uptight twat.
Myers: There's a subtle difference there -- maybe an important difference. I don't favor the idea of going to somebody's home or to something they own and possess and consider very important, like a graveyard -- going to a grave and desecrating that. That's something completely different. Because what you're doing is doing harm to something unique and something that is rightfully part of somebody else -- it's somebody else's ownership. The cracker is completely different. This is something that's freely handed out.
MnIndy: Do you see a parallel between this case and the furor in Denmark (and later the Islamic world at large) over cartoonists' depictions of Mohammed? It seems unlikely that these Catholics would take kindly to being compared to Islamic extremists, but death threats over the fate of a host suggests it's not an unfair characterization.
Myers: Of course! Both are demands that quirky sectarian peculiarities be given undue respect by those who don't believe in them. Furthermore, the majority of the email I'm receiving is making it explicit: they are telling me that I should not abuse their sacred icon, but that I should instead go do something sacrilegious with the Koran.
“This isn’t the first time Myers has shown deference to Islam. For instance, two years ago he was critical of the Danish cartoons that simply depicted an image of Muhammad. ‘They [the cartoons] lack artistic or social or even comedic merit, and are presented as an insult to inflame a poor minority.’Wow, Bill. You just outdouchebagged yourself. Let's put the issue in more complete context, you vapid vat of vapor rub:
There are some things a cartoonist would be rightly excoriated for publishing: imagine that one had drawn an African-American figure as thick-lipped, low-browed, smirking clown with a watermelon in one hand and a fried chicken drumstick in the other. Feeding bigotry and flaunting racist stereotypes would be something that would drive me to protest any newspaper that endorsed it—of course, my protests would involve writing letters and canceling subscriptions, not rioting and burning down buildings. There is a genuine social concern here, I think. Muslims represent a poor and oppressed underclass, and those cartoons represent a ruling establishment intentionally taunting them and basically flipping them off. They have cause to be furious!
I've seen the cartoons, and they are crude and uninteresting—they are more about perpetuating stereotypes of Muslims as bomb-throwing terrorists than seriously illuminating a problem. They lack artistic or social or even comedic merit, and are only presented as an insult to inflame a poor minority. I don't have any sympathy for a newspaper carrying out an exercise in pointless provocation.
Now there would be colossal hypocrisy if atheists were a "ruling establishment." No, it's just some loud guy with a blog, someone who does not exercise cultural hegemony. (Yeah, I took Lit Theory. I'm not proud of it.)
"So now the Planet-of-the-Apes biologist has divined himself an expert on the artistic value of cartoons. So thoughtful of him."1) You taunt not like the leader of a relevant national organization (which, by the way, you're not), but like an arch 6th grader, which is sort of the level of your theology, so I should not be surprised.
2) The Catholic Church does not have a problem with evolution. What's your problem? You have contempt for someone who has some expertise. What have you ever accomplished other than an opinion? Twit.
He even went so far as to say that Muslims ‘have cause to be furious.’ (His italic.) Worthy of burning down churches, pledging to behead Christians and shooting a nun in the back, Professor Myers?I repeat the quote, just in case you missed it:
Feeding bigotry and flaunting racist stereotypes would be something that would drive me to protest any newspaper that endorsed it—of course, my protests would involve writing letters and canceling subscriptions, not rioting and burning down buildings. You are dishonest, Bill Donohue, or quite possibly illiterate.
“We hope Myers does the right thing and just moves on without further disgracing himself and his university. The letter I received from University of Minnesota President Robert H. Bruininks makes it clear that school officials want nothing to do with his hate-filled remarks. It would also be nice if Myers’ fans would cease and desist with their hate-filled screeds.”I'm not a particular fan of this stunt, really. I do like grand gestures of questionable worth, however. But I'm not at all making things up when I call you a liar. Yes, I genuinely dislike you, and if I ever met you socially, I think that there is a good chance I would leave early and trash your car. Your claims to moral authority and simultaneous dishonesty disgrace both yourself and your church.
Of course such hypocrisy, as we all now know, has been the Church's official policy for decades.

Be careful, Bing. Donohue is infamous for bragging about his ability to fight. On air with Christopher Hitchens during a debate about Mother Teresa's confessions of loosing faith he asked if Hitch wanted to "take it outside". He seems determined to undermine Jesus' instruction to turn the other cheek.
My understanding in reading Donohue is that he imagines he is wielding the terrible swift sword of christian righteousness, but that he probably has a very small weenie. I wouldn't mind saying so to his face, if it wasn't always mugging it up on FOX NEWS or any other network that will let him cry "Attack!"
Bill Donohue is a shitbag. I would gladly oppress him. Not other Catholics, mind you, just him.
Damn, but that's pretty kind of you. Who supports him and whose money does he use?
Still, nice to see charity at work.
I think Donohue is confusing PZ with Sadam Al Myers, PZ's evil twin.
PZ only took up this nonsense because a student in Florida was physically assaulted for having the temerity to take his wafer back to his pew and show it to a non-Catholic friend who was curious. The kid received death threats over the incident.
So, PZ took up the gauntlet.
As for me? Been there, stole a whole box of the things as a teenager, and horrified my Catholic friends by eating them with a can of bean dip. Who knew Jeebus tasted like a wafer-thin disk of styrofoam?
Seems like South Park got Donohoe just about right in that episode about St. Peter really being a rabbit.
