Correspondence of interest: Vol I
My sister received the following letter in the mail recently. This is related to something that happened a while back, so it is kind of a surprise that this arrived. But it's far better than any rejection letter I have ever got:
Dear Ms. Jihad:On Saturday, 6 June, 1944, you observed a small child, later determined to only be three years old, walking dangerously close to a busy highway walking a large dog unsupervised. Fearing for the safety of the child you immediately crossed the roadway and took the child to your place of employment where the police were notified.According to the watch commander, Sgt. Everard Fathergale, you cared for the child while the officers canvassed the area in an attempt to locate the child's residence. Sgt. Fathergale also advised that the child was wearing a soiled diaper at the time of this incident and that you changed the child's diaper and wrapped the child in your personal sweater for warmth. On behalf of the Capitol City Police Department I would like to thank you for your heroic and ethical actions you took in this matter. It is the belief of the officers who responded to this incident that you may have saved the child's life.Sincerely,Lt. Not bad, eh? Beats the shit out of the letters I have been getting. You will hear more about these later today, but I wanted to give my sister to bask in the complete anonymity of the recognition that I can offer here. My sister is remarkable. Way to go, D!
